Question 1

Is it worth getting an eSIM for Puerto Rico?

Accepted Answer

An eSIM Prime plan is worth considering if you want mobile data as soon as you arrive in Puerto Rico, without looking for a local SIM shop or replacing your physical SIM. It is especially useful for maps, transport apps, messaging, and bookings. Confirm that your phone supports eSIM and is carrier-unlocked before buying.

Question 2

Can I use my phone number in Puerto Rico?

Accepted Answer

Yes. On a Dual SIM phone, you can keep your physical SIM active for calls and SMS while using eSIM Prime for mobile data in Puerto Rico. WhatsApp, iMessage, FaceTime and similar apps continue to use your existing account over data. Your regular carrier may charge for calls, texts, or roaming, so check its settings and rates.

Question 3

What is an eSIM and how does it work when traveling?

Accepted Answer

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into a compatible device. After buying from eSIM Prime, you receive installation details and add the plan without inserting a plastic SIM. When you arrive in Puerto Rico, select the eSIM Prime line for mobile data and enable Data Roaming so it can connect to a supported local partner network.
